The latest versions allow you to hear your voice while speaking
provided that the phone has "side tone" technology. (This means your voice feeds
back into the phone receiver). This is an added plus because as all telecoils
users know, the best thing about telecoils is the ability to block background
noise. On the other hand, when there is a pause during a phone conversation the
silence is loud and we may wonder if there is a disconnect or our batteries went
dead or even if our hearing aids failed. Another benefit to hearing our voice is
the ability to improve our enunciation. HATIS is indeed an improved
model.
