The beauty of Infrared systems is the privacy. (Infrared signals remain within the area. It does not go through barriers.)The Spectrum is not subject to outside interference common to radio (RF) frequencies allowing smooth operation even in well-lit areas (but not outdoors). Another benefit is that systems can be placed in each room without interference from each other.
